Free Speech Now Denied by Legislator towards Women Legislators

We need to demand the same from legislators.

Roe vs. Wade landmark decision on American women's right to choose, Michigan while hearing views on whether or not to pass restrictive legislation against abortion decided one woman's inclusion of the word "vagina" on the house floor the anatomically correct word by the way is restricted indefinitely from being able to speak on the house floor again. I have to wonder what he would have thought if someone said pussy...

Anyway, this is America we have the right to free speech as long as it is not to insight a riot or hateful crime.  Legislators cannot be sued for their views on the house floor either, so they so be able to express themselves without prissy men slang also known as fussily and excessively respectable in this case a male trying to quiet women like Lisa Brown whether she is a women or a democratic for speaking her mind.

Dear Mr. Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas as a former service worker in the US Army and National Guard I appreciate your service there.  However, your behavior in this incident is deplorable perhaps you should plan on going back to flipping pizza in your parent's business where small town minds gather. (No offense to townee's of course, unless you voted for this guy); what happens on the house floor protects all state representatives from repercussion's such as you dished out; we can only wonder what your wife Marsha's life is like living with you, get a grip Ms. Brown was stating her view and you have no right to quiet women's voice's ever if you are going to hear a side be prepared for both or step down.

Freedom of expression - in particular, freedom of the press - guarantees popular participation in the decisions and actions of government, and popular participation is the essence of our democracy.

To the Mother's without a Card Today

As I travel down that old familiar road, I find myself in longing the landscape beckons me; folding me in an embrace that caresses my brow and soothes my soul while releasing my tears with it gentle whispers of home...

Child: Mom?
Mom: yes. 
Child: you know what's weird?
Mom: what?
Child: they started asking about you again (pause), like how's your mom.
Mom: (slowly smiling)
Child: So, I guess "We" do exist...
Mom: Yes, yes we do... we exist ... are you ready then?

That saying when one door closes, another will open ... why it opens is because "we" make life happen; we're mothers - we push past obstacles and break barriers; we are relentless to make this world better for all children ... we will never recoup what we have lost - but by learning, persevering and fighting for it; we will win the future for our children!

Intolerance to Oppression under any Disguise

Dear MOJO Mothers and Others

A group called One Million Mom’s (herein MM) (44,275 really) recently made a Statement about Ellen DeGeneres, talk show host: “By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JC Penney is attempting to gain a new target market and in the process will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years. The majority of JC Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there.”

Really, apparently some of the above number of so called mother's support this.  The Traditional Marriage versus Civil Unions or even call it a Civil Marriage may help alleviate those who have a problem with the marriage line.

However, what really concerns me and what should concern any real mother is that “traditional values” highly defined is in how mother's treat and raise their children.  Ellen DeGeneres is someone’s child, and by all accounts was brought up by a mother who wanted her child to be happy, successful and kind to others.  Through all the adversity and bullying going on in the world and this country today, do we really want to endorse a group of so called mother’s who would disparage anyone’s child at any age because they are different? That would be tolerance without conscience.

We are all different and I want to believe that any mother would be proud of their children's accomplishments when they "stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you'd want to be treated and helping those in need." I agree with, those traditional values.  And like Mrs. DeGeneres that's what I stand for. I also believe in the power of dance, music and positive messages to promote our children's well being. I am offended that groups of so called mother's advocate this type of intolerance; would anyone want their child ridiculed at any age because they are different?

"onemillionmoms" These so called, Christian mother’s are advocating corruption, cruelty, coldness, and treating people the way the Puritan’s of this country treated anyone not part of their church or converted to their subservient way’s and their children are or have become the Oppressors we are fighting against; I do not believe Jesus Christ or any Religion advocate’s hate at any level.

Not to get all preachy, but I believe that the Great Architect of this universe wants us to go far beyond avoiding the 6th commandment in Christianity " to not commit murder"; I believe he requires that we not maliciously harm another human being in word or deed. To accomplish this we need to recognize in word and deed the inherent worth and dignity of every person; that in America were we allegedly purport to have Equality for ALL; that this is recognized in Justice, equity and compassion in human relations; Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual and human growth in their own beliefs; that they are endowed by their creator with the free and responsible search for truth and meaning; and the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within in society at large; this Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part is essential.

The goal of our declaration of independence is that a Creator has given us all certain unalienable Rights, which among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.  A nation built on individualism and equal rights this MM group relates better to the peculiar institution of Slavery and Indian reservations; and we must advocate intolerance to oppression under any disguise.

As we move into a study week before finals, I don't think words can express the gratitude I feel for having been given this truly unique and rewarding scholarship at the American College of History and Legal Studies.

The entire staff is above all expectations.  Dean Chesson instills the importance of checking resources and using critical thinking techniques by taking you from the settlement of this country to the current day; dispelling many myths along the way, through a vast array of historical topics on American and World History and how they reflect and/or have affected one another. The guest speakers have all been inspiring and informative. This is complemented by Professor Defusco-Sullivan's ability to teach English and various forms of writing, by providing conscience moving literature that runs the gamut and think on your feet exercises that prepare you for ... well, seriously any topic under the sun.

If you have ever wanted an opportunity you thought would never be within your reach, the direction of this college under Dean Mooney and the course's here are outstanding.  Whether you’re pursuing a bachelor's or Juris Doctor (in 3 years not 4), you will find ACHLS, as a team, is able to bring a diverse group of individuals together, where you can share, discuss, debate and disagree with respect and consideration for all view points, while creating new perspectives and enduring possibilities.

Denise-Marie Cutter/McIntosh, a 2010 graduate of the Nashua Community College Paralegal Program with Academic Distinction, was awarded a full-tuition scholarship for the academic year 2011-2012 from The American College of History and Legal Studies (ACHLS), on her pathway to law school.

Denise-Marie, a Western Massachusetts native, who at a young age advocated for children’s rights in the foster care system and graduated from high school after her junior year, was also one of the first and youngest women to be asked to join the Chicopee Lions Club.  Denise is still a forceful advocate for the rights of children and families.  She is furthering her legal education with the goal to hold accountable those parties who are legally entrusted with the welfare of children and families.    

Denise has actively served as President of the NCC Paralegal Club for 2009/2010, was an active participant with the Paralegal Association of New Hampshire serving on several committees, and has worked with legislators on laws affecting the community. She is also dedicated to promoting literacy as a member of the Nashua, N.H. Summerfun committee, and organizer of the acclaimed Fairy Tale Festival, specifically designed to promote literacy for children. The Fairy Tale Festival drew a record attendance of 5500 last year, and this year’s show on July 16, 2011 is sure to be a hit. 

Denise continues to set the standard for professionals in the legal field.  Prior to graduation, she conceived and implemented a full-day continuing legal education course on the pressing issue of domestic violence.  Held in October of 2010, the course was approved by the New Hampshire Bar Association and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations for 6 credits including 1credit in ethics.  The course received a 95% approval rating from those in attendance, demonstrating that Denise’s academic success is only matched by her success outside the classroom. 

With creative social networking skills and a background in research, Denise is also a faithful steward of every task entrusted to her.  Denise has been recognized as having the perseverance, initiative and extraordinary determination to succeed in any project, objective or goal she pursues.  Her commitment to further her education in pursuing her legal career, often while working two or three jobs, is apparent, unwavering, and fervent.
